Let's dig a little deeper into our second chakra, which is the Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana).

Sacral Chakra

The Sacral Chakra, also known as the second chakra or Svadhisthana in Sanskrit, is located in the lower abdomen, just below the navel. This chakra is associated with our emotional and sexual energy, as well as our ability to connect with others, experience pleasure, and embrace new experiences.

The Sacral Chakra is often referred to as the "pleasure centre" of the body, as it governs our sense of enjoyment and creativity. When this chakra is balanced, we feel confident, passionate, and open to new opportunities. However, when it is blocked or out of balance, we may experience feelings of guilt, shame, or fear of intimacy.

In addition to its role in our emotional and sexual lives, the Sacral Chakra is also responsible for our ability to handle social situations, build healthy relationships, and connect with others on a deeper level.

By working to balance our Sacral Chakra, we can cultivate a greater sense of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and personal growth.

The symbolism of the Sacral Chakra.

The Sacral Chakra has six petals and a crescent moon symbol. The circle stands for water, which shows that the moon's phases and water's changes are closely related.

What does an unbalanced Sacral Chakra feel like?

When the Sacral Chakra loses its balance, it can lead to a range of physical and emotional issues, including emotional instability, aversion to change, depression, feelings of envy, and confusion. It can cause individuals to feel disconnected from the world and people around them, resulting in repressed emotions and a lack of creativity. Physically, it can manifest as lower back pain, abdominal pain, and eating disorders.

Is it underactive or overactive?

When your Sacral Chakra is in overdrive, it can cause intense feelings that might lead to unwanted drama and unhealthy emotional attachments in both personal and professional relationships. You may feel like your emotions are all over the place, resulting in being stuck in a particular mood or overindulging in things. So, keeping this chakra in balance and harmony is crucial to avoid such potential issues.

When you experience an underactive Sacral Chakra, it can be a challenging and difficult time. The feelings of disconnection and emotional numbness can be overwhelming, and it's understandable to feel as though something is amiss. It's common to feel exhausted, lack creativity, and have little interest in pleasure or excitement. It can be challenging to overcome these feelings, but with the right support and practices, such as meditation and self-care, it is possible to start the journey towards healing.

Activities that help you balance your Sacral Chakra.

Physical exercise.

Engaging in physical activities in water, such as water aerobics or swimming, can provide numerous benefits for your body and mind. Water is closely associated with the Sacral Chakra, which is linked to our emotions, creativity, and sexuality. By immersing yourself in water, you can help stimulate and balance this chakra, which in turn can boost your physical and mental well-being.

Sound.

One of my favourite ways to balance my chakras is by using sound. Sounds can stimulate an emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual response. For example, can you recall the last time you danced to your favourite song? Do you recall how it made you feel? I know that when I do, it makes me feel very energetic, free and definitely more positive. The Sacral Chakra is associated with the musical note D. Chanting the word VAM is believed to be directly connected to this chakra and can help balance it. Listening to music that bounces or flows is great for balancing this Chakra.

Colour.

Incorporating the colour ORANGE in your daily life can help balance your Sacral Chakra. For instance, you can wear clothing associated with this chakra to positively influence your mood, mind, and energy levels. Personally, I have found that using an orange water bottle to carry my water helps me feel more connected to my chakras, as it infuses my water with the energy of the colour.

A bit of you time.

One of the most effective ways to balance the Sacral Chakra, which is closely associated with water, is through activities such as an aromatherapy massage or a hot aromatic bath. These practices can be highly beneficial in promoting a sense of tranquillity and harmony within oneself.

May this piece of information inspire you on your journey of self-healing.
